Actually, cooking is not boring at all: depending on the level of the stove or fire pit they have, cooks can combine two or more ingredients together, process them and then read the name and description of what they just created. This is a useful way for players to use their main character to build up physical and mental abilities and explore the surroundings, while their friends perform the boring tasks of fishing, collecting resources and cooking. Once the crew members are reunited, each of them can be assigned a job. Before meeting with the others (no "Lost" reference here), the lonely main character can't do anything other than befriend the many chimps which live on the islands: not a bad idea, after all, as the friendly primates love the contact with human beings, bringing plenty of natural resources in exchange for some hugs. All the crew members are separated at the beginning of the game and players have to rebuild their relationships when they meet again, going all the way from chatting to hugging and eventually proposing, if they want to. Social interaction between characters is different from other The Sims games, but not less involving.

Feathers from chickens and leather from wild boars can be combined with orchids and make excellent pieces of fashion art, and players can even choose their favorite color from the dyes they have created from basic resources such as ash, red hibiscus and nuts. The basic creations retain a certain primitive flavor - looking nonethless amazing on female characters - but the discovery of rattan and cotton makes things even more interesting. The best part, however, is the actual clothes creation, which allows players to use collected resources and turn them into S&M vine tops or grass and leaves pants.

Fans of savage living can enjoy this situation everybody else can use their newly-crafted sewing kit to trim hair or mend clothes every once in a while. Sims start to get wild after a while on the islands: their hair and beard grow long and their clothes get ripped, especially after a jungle exploration session. The furniture list may offer less options than other The Sims games, but the clothes creation is absolutely brilliant.
